Patches’ Buttons
“Buttons” 1974 13.2 hand Blanket POA
Buttons is the boss around here. You can’t help but have a favorite, and she’s mine. I’ve had her since she and I were both 10. Needless to say, although I’m young for a person, she’s very old for a horse. She is still very spry for an old lady. She has been diagnosed with Cushings Disease, but is doing very well on her daily medication. Despite her recent medical problems, she would still rather be ridden than left behind! Bob says I spoil her, and I have to admit that she gets what she wants most of the time, as long as it won’t hurt her. I have learned how to trim her feet to keep her comfortable, and thankfully, she has remained sound for light riding even with pretty severe rotation of her coffin bone. In her younger years, she was a jumping fool! She and I jumped as high as 6 ft., and as wide as 8 ft. She loved it, and it showed. We lost Buttons January 28, 2005. My first, favorite, and best friend for so long. I will miss her. Buttons memorial newsletter
