The horses moved to their new home a couple weeks ago. We have been working hard at the property to get electricity, water, house, fence etc. The new place feels like home now that the horses are there to greet us whenever we drive up. They really like their spacious new (temporary) pasture. The permanent fencing isn’t going to be installed until the driveway and final excavating work are finished. It is much less hilly, and more wide-open than their previous home, so they have more space to really open up and run. Missie has been a little apprehensive in the new surroundings, and has made it a point to keep her “herd” pretty tight. She’s been unusually possessive of her buddies. A few days ago, we rode Whisper and Buttons – leaving Missie in the field. We never got out of her sight, and stayed within 100 yards the whole time. What a fit she pitched! The horse that didn’t get ridden got the best workout that day!

We hope to be moving in soon too. Our goal is to be in the new house by Christmas. We have been doing a lot of the work ourselves, but now that it gets dark so early, we are hoping to hire more outside help to work during daylight hours. The roof is finally finished; the next projects are to finish the inside walls, install the plumbing and electricity, windows, doors and stairs.
