We brought our filly home this weekend, and I have been enjoying her immensely! We renamed her “Holly” as a barn name because there’s no way we could handle having a “Sahara” and my current mare “Sierra”. So, Holly has been settling in nicely.

She apparently had quite a traumatic time loading with the commercial haulers in Germantown – due to 53 mile gusts of wind blowing and clanging metal parts on the rig. She did make it to Lexington just fine, and we picked her up there after spending the night in, as Max calls it, “Let-thun”. We got to swim in the hotel pool, and tried to get the boys good and tired for the trip home. Would you believe Max didn’t even sleep one bit? After all that swimming…. We worked with Holly for about an hour at the layover farm in Lexington, and had her loading and unloading calmly before we closed her in for the trip. She got quite excited again when we unloaded here, because the minute she got off the trailer, a big jet buzzed by overhead. She walked the pasture perimeter with Bob several times before we let her loose, and let her explore the pasture a bit before we turned her pasturemate, Sierra out with her. Holly was quite willing to allow Sierra to continue to be boss, and there were no squeals or contact at all. That was quite a relief! They are getting along well. It was very cute because when Sierra even gave Holly a halfway dirty look, Holly would go RUNNING to me or Bob like we were “home base” and she would be safe there. I am having SO much fun with her!

Here are some pictures we took! We’re quite excited to show her off to visitors, so please feel free to come on out and visit!
