We took a trip to visit Delta and Little Bit at the Wilds’ place, and had a really great time. It was my first flight in the yellow Bonanza that Bob’s planning to purchase a share of in the new year. It was the boys’ first small airplane ride too. Armed with earplugs and a headset for Max, it was certainly an experience. Rex slept most of the way, and Max enjoyed it, but got over it fairly quickly. All in all, we made it there, and Max thinks we can do it again as long as we get to go have so much fun with his friends!
Delta and Little Bit look great, and Delta’s manners have improved immensely (Little Bit is not in training yet, so I didn’t really take the time to interact with her as much as Delta) Delta has had a knot in her tail that she has not wanted me to mess with for about a year now. Wow, what a knot! Jason had tried to get it out, and almost made a bet with me that I would end up cutting it out. Everybody was quite amazed as I worked with it and worked with it…Delta being a perfect lady the entire time…and finally did get it untangled. What’s the secret? Well, firstly you’ve got to have the horse trained well enough to stand still for you! But the big secret to untangling a nasty nasty knot…WD-40. I’d never used it before, but it works like magic. I guess humans sometimes use it on their skin as an arthritis treatment, so it’s non-caustic. I wasn’t sure if it might dry out the hair if left on, so I did wash it out. But it was a very effective detangler. I’m going to absolutely keep that one in my “bag of tricks”!
Max had an incredible time playing with the Wilds boys, Brock and Boake. He loves to be able to play a little rough with older boys. They also got to take a ride on the horse-walker-swings! I took a ride myself, and it goes really fast! It’s really fun.
