January 3 , 2004 Happy New Year! I hope this year is full of wonderful experiences for everyone! We are looking forward to a very eventful year in 2004. In farm news, we are thrilled to introduce the HayTunnel. It's proving to be a great way to feed round bales to horses. Look for more information and pictures about the use of the HayTunnel as the winter continues, and throughout the year. I am a very strong advocate of feeding horses plenty of hay. Research continues to show that the most important part of a healthy horse's diet is good pasture/hay and water. Feeding hay as I recommend - free choice - keeps horses warm in the winter, keeps their digestive systems working properly, prevents vices, and promotes general good health. Round bales are such a great way to provide free choice hay, but many "horse people" are still leary of feeding round bales due to concerns of they hay being in the weather. The HayTunnel keeps the hay dry and safe for the horse to eat, while also reducing waste. And round bales are an economical choice too! I hope you'll take the time to look into whether round bales will work for your horse situation. We think it could make your lives a lot easier! In personal news, we are getting more and more excited about the baby we are expecting in mid-May. We found out Dec. 19 that it is a boy! I have to admit we were really hoping for a boy, so we are thrilled! We also were able to have a "4D" ultrasound done at the end of December. It was absolutely amazing. This technology allows you to really see the baby's features. Detailed little feet, hands, and facial features. I have seen some of the ultrasounds alongside a photo of the child once it's born - and the likness is amazing. We think they are MUCH more interesting than the regular black-and-white-alien-baby ultrasounds people usually think of!
